We've all seen the demise of the mortgage, real estate, and financial markets over the past few years. Sure there are economic issues, but we truly believe that two factors could have avoided (yes, avoided) the demise of the financial markets and the economy - Integrity and Consumer Education.

The two actually go hand in hand; if you have integrity, you will want to educate your consumers so that they make the best choices for them , and not just sell them the highest or near highest commission product; we all saw it coming. Even as the market started to tighten, banks (many of whom are no longer in business) were paying higher commissions to broker selling monthly ARM's.  As a financial professional, I can proudly say that I took no part in shady business practices, and often turned down business that just didn't make sense for the customer.

AFPACI is a consumer advocacy group that has created a platform for Financial Professionals to take a stand for consumers rights.  From a business standpoint, it makes perfect sense; who gets more referrals, those whose customers feel taken, or those whose customer feel served?  It's a no-brainer.
